SOME OPTIONS FOR MAKING A WILL
A will is a legal document which has to conform to a strict set of
formalities to ensure it passes through probate. Almost fifty per cent of
the Wills people try to write themselves fall short of this and fail. We
have many years of experience in preparing Wills and our consultants are trained
to take your instructions with the minimum of bother. We recommend you use
a professional if your estate is over £5000 as it will have to pass through
probate before your next of kin can deal with your estate.

We find most clients like us to visit them at home for their consultation.

takes less than an hour, during which time we carefully record your wishes and

- No
Solicitor or Bank Charges
Sometimes Solicitors and Banks will put themselves in your
Will to deal with your estate and can charge over £10,000 to deal with
probate. WE DON’T

complicated.

for a couple of wills. This can
be for a married couple or two people living together.

Our fees include returning your Will to you and ensuring you
understand it fully before supervising the signing and witnessing.
ONLY WE provide this service.
USE A SOLICITOR Nothing
wrong with solicitors but;
-
You may have to take a couple of days off work.
- They may wish to act as your Executors which could cost £1,500 - £3500 or more
for a
very simple estate when probate is dealt with.
- They will probably not wish to visit you at home.
AT THE POST OFFICE
Unless you have a very small estate (under £5,000) and have some knowledge of
Wills this is not recommended as 50% of the DIY Wills we see are not
valid or do not cover the clients wishes for one reason or another. These
forms are so basic they even recommend you seek professional advice if you have
young children.
USING YOUR BANK
This is probably the most
expensive option as most Banks will insist on being your Executor and charge for
dealing with your estate.
One of our clients was recently charged over £5,000 for a simple estate when
her husband passed away.
They do not specialize in Wills and you will probably have to take time off to
deal with it.
